Participants in this course will explore how Abraham Lincoln’s leadership practices and behaviors provide compelling guidance for today’s challenges of accountability, political conflict, team building and climate. Leadership qualities linked to leading others and school success will be highlighted.

Participants will be asked to read chapters 4-6 of the book Learning From Lincoln prior to November 22, answer questions pertaining to each chapter, and submit these responses prior to the academy.

This workshop is held in conjunction with the 2024 IASB/IASA/Illinois ASBO Joint Annual Conference. Academy attendees are not required to be registered for the Joint Annual Conference.


You may purchase Wi-Fi when you register for this academy. You will receive your password upon check-in at our registration table.

Due to changes in the Illinois State Board of Education professional development requirements, please be advised that you will be required to scan in and out to all professional development opportunities, in which credits are offered. Each attendee will also be required to fill out an evaluation summary in order to receive credit.


Cancelation Policy: For a full refund, you must call or email Illinois ASBO seventy-two (72) hours in advance of the event. Illinois ASBO event cancellation policies are subject to change. Illinois ASBO Members: Student Premiers and Add-On Memberships will be responsible for the full Illinois ASBO Member Fee if you are a “No Show.” Others will not be refunded and/or will still be invoiced and responsible for the charges. Transfers of event registrations will carry a fee of $25 for members and $50 for nonmembers and will be invoiced at the time of transfer.
