Communicating and Lobbying with Legislators: How to Make Your Views Known and Affect Change - A partnered event from Illinois ASBO and the Illinois Association of School Administrators (IASA)

This course will be taught in Springfield when the legislature is in session. A Senator and a Representative will be scheduled to speak with the participants about the legislative process in a hearing room at the Capital. Presentations by Senate and House Staffers will be scheduled as well as a presentation by a staff member from the Governor’s office. Participants will also have the opportunity to attend legislative hearings. As a result of taking this course, participants will understand and be able to work effectively with legislators and their staff, apply rules for giving testimony at legislative hearings, develop working relationships with the Legislative Reference Bureau and the Legislative Information System, and work with the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules.
