This course will provide participants the knowledge and skills to understand, design and implement a sustainable learning environment in their district. Building systems, energy efficiency, renewable energy systems and the legal implications associated with such operational decisions will be discussed along with their impact on the learning environment and student wellness. 


Sessions:

  • Sustainability in Programmatic Options for Increased Energy Efficiency
  • Understanding Renewable Energy Systems Impact on Learning
  • Legal Implications to Your District When Changing Energy Systems
  • Sustainable Building Design & its' Effects on Student Wellness and the Learning Community
  • Analyzing Building Systems vs Sustainable Systems in Environmental Impact


This academy has pre-work. While it is not required, this data-gathering template will greatly enhance your academy experience. This academy also has post-work which will be completed on your own time after the academy, and must be submitted to Illinois ASBO within 30 days of the academy in order to receive AAC credit.

Registration & Refreshments: 6:30am - 7:00am

Program:7:00am - 2:15pm

Travel to May Whitney Elementary School: 9:20am - 10:00am

Lunch: 12:00pm - 12:30pm
